Amazing Rewrite

Hi awesome readers,

We are learning how to fix surface features. Surface features are little bits in writing. They are
punctuation, capitals and spelling. Here is an example: thissentsaChulymakessen Zbuttisrellyhrd to reed. This sentence doesn't have surface features.

On the room 9 site Mrs T put on a link to a story we have to fix. We had to read it three times. The first read I looked for at the end of the sentence.

This isn't my work. This is somebody else's writing we changed. The original:

He kept absolutely still as the footsteps got louder he tried not to suffocate as he laid under the bed he was wondering what had happened to his brother and his family. The man with the knife in his hand stormed around the house. Mums had boyfriends before but we had not thought that they would ever find us maybe he was one of them looking for revenge but why would he come. mum would just move and how did he find us we live on the other side of the planet from where all of mums boyfriends were so how could he find us he might have put a tracker on mum when he last saw her or on one of the devises ‘Hello where are you I know your here you're going to tell me where you're mother is or you shall join your father... in the skies so which will it be death or freedom you have 10 seconds chose wisely’.

Here is my version:

Riley kept absolutely still as the footsteps got louder. Riley tried not to suffocate as he laid under the bed. Riley was wondering what had happened to his brother and his family. The man with the blade in his hand stormed around the house.

Mum has had boyfriends before but we had not thought that they would ever find us. Maybe he was one of them looking for revenge, but why would he come? Mum would just move. How did he find us? We live on the other side of the planet from where all of mum’s boyfriends were. How could he find us? He might have put a tracker, on mum when he last saw her, or on one of her devises.

“Hello, where are you? I know you are here. You're going to tell me where your mother is or you shall join your father... in the skies. so which will it be, death or freedom! You have ten seconds to chose wisely.”

Can you Spot the Difference. Tell me the difference in the comment section. The first person to get all the changes get a shout out in my next blog post. Have a nice day bye.

super fun super sports

Hello everybody,

This week we are learning about writing with language features. We have learnt a lot of language features. We need to use them. So we decided to write recounts.

These are all the language features we have been learning in the past weeks:

  • Onomatopoeia - ‘Bang’
  • Metaphor - “You are the sun!’
  • Personification “The clouds danced across the sky.”
  • Hyperboles - “I was so embarrassed I would have stuck my head in the toilet to hide.”
  • Alliteration - “It was time for super Sunday sports.”
  • Dialogue - “Don’t move,” Ellenessa whispered.

So the first thing did was answer questions in our document: who, what, when, where, and how. The second thing did was find all the places we were going to use a language feature. The third thing we did was write our story. Here is what I did

Who?

  • Coach
  • Teammates
  • Miss D

What?

  • Winter sport
  • Netball - Netballs going Bang - Feet going Thud
  • We walk over with (miss D) and our team.

Why?

How?

Where?

It is time for winter sports. I call it the Super Fun Friday sports. We play against the other Schools in our Cluster.  The sport I played is netball. The sports team I play for is the Hornby Primary School rubies.

Today we are playing, South Hornby School (aka S.H.S). Miss D isn't here today.

Here is a photo of me playing netball.

Koro’s house is locked up and the windows are closed.

Ari forced his mind to slow down and think clearly. He took some deep breaths.

The house is locked and Ari can’t get in.

The window is too high.

He can’t get through the window because the gap is too small.

writing about Onomatopoeia

Hi my amazing awesome readers,

This is about my writing. We are learning about Onomatopoeia. Onomatopoeia is a word that describes a sound. I wrote a story from this video. This is the video I watched.

If you would like to learn more about onomatopoeia then click here. Here is my work:

I walked on to the track. It is race-day. I stood there and I knew there was no way back. We all lined up on the curved starting line. We all the waited for the starting gun. All of a sudden the gun popped and we started. The wind is crackling in my ears as I run, “Crackle”. I can hear the sound of footsteps thumping, “thump thump thump”. The first few laps I was behind a bunch of people, but I started to run in front of them, and I got first place. I felt like nothing could stop me now, but then a boy in grey ran in front of me. I tried to get him to back first but ...

I'm going to continue my story later. Thank you for reading my blog post . : ) ; )

 : ) ; ) Hello everybody,

This term we were learning a on how to create a strong narrative. It has to be believable, consistent and descriptive. It also needs to have a strong structure.

Yesterday, we were learning about show not tell. We looked for strong action words but if they were week  we hard to changed them. We use a app called thesaurus. Here is a example.

Al gave Miss D coffee.
Here is it changed: Al kindly rewarded Miss D a hot delicious coffee.

kia ora everybody,

Today we're going to share our writing. This term we have been learning about strong narrative. A strong narrative is believable, descriptive and consistent. Today we did sick sentences. At first they were boring and then we change them up to make them exciting. Hair is my sick sentences Anna sat down. Anna touched the mirror. The glass moved.

Anna sat down on vere cold, concrete, uncomfortable ground. Anna touched the warm, clean mirror. The glass rippled like water. we wrote about a girl named anna. hair is our picture.

Screen Shot 2017-04-19 at 7.25.35 PM.png
Hair is my story.

She had found it lying alone, deserted, abandoned in the attic. After making the discovery, Anna had gazed and marvelled at it for some time. Where had it come from? Why had no dust settled upon it, as it had done over everything else that resided in her attic? A layer of the thick dust blanketed the attic floor, and as the sunlight glared through the attic windows, the dust particles yet to settle were illuminated as they hovered in the stuffy air. Yet, the mirror looked flawless, untouched by age, not a finger print in sight. Anna propped the mirror up against one of the thick, timber beams that jutted from the attic floor. Settling down into a comfortable position, she tentatively placed a finger against the glass. The mirror Rippled slightly. She fell through. She fell on rainbow grass. Then she realised she was in block star planet season 3 kawaii. She saw someone come up to her. She looked up it persons head. The name said R!ley10). She had black hair with blue at the end. A bubble appeared it said “hi anna15. Are you new to Block Star Planet?”. Annas bubble said “sorry no. what are you staring at?”. Only the sounds of ice skating could be herd. She looked below her wheelchair. The Dwellers have may the rainbow disappear and they're all sucking of the colour extra fast.
